Mikayla Jade is known as Australia’s own Crazy Cowgirl for a very good reason. Most people who ride horses spend their time trying very hard to remain safely in the saddle: Mikayla does anything and everything other than staying in the saddle.
Currently living, training and performing in Los Angeles with multiple world champion trick rider and stuntman, Tad Griffith, Mikayla is returning in time to entertain audiences at this year’s Maleny show.
Originally a local girl (her parents purchased the local camping property - Kenilworth Homestead when she was 2 years old), Mikayla began trick riding at the tender age of 10 under the expert teaching of Australian master horseman, Heath Harris. She began performing with the Australian all girl national trick riding team, Girls, Girls, Girls at 12 and has performed all over Queensland and New South Wales including the Sydney Royal Show.
At 15 she became the youngest trick rider ever to join the team at Australian Outback Spectacular where she continued to perform nightly, thrilling audiences for the following 18 months. Following this, she toured internationally with the world esteemed Cirque De Solei style show “Cavalia” visiting Abu Dabi, Dubai, Belgium and France. She has performed in Los Angeles with the Wild West Express trick riders and at the Calgary Stampede in Canada.
A dancer from the age of 3, Mikayla brings elegance, flexibility and grace to her shows. Her performances have been described as “A fast-paced, adrenaline rush on horseback.”
