From the outside it’s a modest building, but inside Maleny Playhouse is often a hive of creative activity. Rehearsals, Youth Theatre classes, play readings, workshops and performances by visiting groups regularly bring the venue to life.
Maleny Players presents a diverse range of theatre productions throughout the year. Recent productions have ranged from satirical fantasy inspired by Shakespearean characters to intense drama by Jean-Paul Sartre, contemporary theatre, and classic comedies such as Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. This variety ensures there is always something for everyone to enjoy.
Maleny Playhouse has undergone continual improvements and is now a well-equipped intimate theatre venue. The space includes comfortable tiered seating, bar facilities, and dedicated storage areas for costumes and props.
The Players are currently seeking funding to further enlarge and enhance backstage facilities, ensuring the venue continues to support high-quality productions and creative work. The Playhouse is also available for hire when it is not being used for Maleny Players activities.
