Originally travelling from Toogoolawah, Di has been an exhibitor in the dairy section of the Maleny Show for more than 30 years, and a valued member of the society for just as long.
After relocating to the Maleny region in 2007, she continued her involvement, becoming a familiar and respected part of the Show community. Her long-standing commitment reflects what agricultural shows are all about — consistency, connection, and a passion for showcasing skills and produce.

In 2010, while helping prepare cattle at the Show, Di decided to enter the cooking section — and quickly found success.
After winning several prizes, she continued entering year after year, building a reputation for creativity and quality. With support from judges’ feedback and stewards’ guidance, Di refined her approach, constantly evolving her recipes.
One of her most loved creations, her Famous Savoury Scones, has been developed over years of experimentation — a true family favourite and a reflection of her hands-on approach to cooking.
The New Blue Ribbon Cookbook, authored by Liz Harfull, brings together the people, stories and traditions behind agricultural shows across Australia.
A respected Australian writer, Liz has long documented rural communities and the cultural significance of these events. Di’s inclusion in the book places the Maleny Show within this broader national story — showcasing the people and passion behind our pavilion.

For Di, the Maleny Show remains something special.
“The showgrounds are the most picturesque and certainly the most well-organised of any show I’ve been to.”
It’s stories like hers that continue to shape the Show — built on community, creativity and a shared pride in what we produce and present.
