2026 Maleny Showgirl & Rural Ambassador Winners Announced

The Maleny Show Society's pre-show event brought the community together for an evening worth celebrating.

"Make It, Show It, Grow It – Showdown Trivia Night" was held at the Maleny Show Pavilion ahead of the 2026 Maleny Agricultural Show, drawing together local producers, families, competitors and community members for a night of agriculture-themed trivia, local food tastings and genuine Hinterland spirit.

The evening's standout moment was the official judging and announcement of the 2026 Showgirl and Rural Ambassador program — recognising young people who represent the future of agriculture and community leadership in the region.

Maleny Showgirl — Kael Thompson
An elite para swimmer who has represented Australia internationally, Kael brings the same drive and dedication to her agricultural roots. Alongside recent gold medals at the Australian Open Championships, she maintains strong ties to her family's cattle operation and is committed to mentoring younger participants in the community.

Junior Showgirl — Alexandra Haslam
A Year 11 student at Maleny State High School, Alexandra is building a well-rounded foundation in agriculture through academic study, vocational training, cattle showing and equestrian disciplines. She is passionate about encouraging greater youth involvement in agriculture and the future of local shows.

Runner-Up Junior Showgirl — Isabelle Moore
Isabelle is pursuing a career in animal health with aspirations to become a veterinarian. She combines her studies and part-time work with hands-on livestock experience, and used the program to develop her confidence and communication skills alongside her agricultural knowledge.

Junior Rural Ambassador — Keelee Thompson
Also a Year 11 student at Maleny State High School, Keelee is gaining practical experience through cattle showing, junior judging and her family's stud operation. She is passionate about livestock development, mentorship and strengthening connections between young people and the agricultural community.

A warm congratulations also to all participants, and to the Trailblazers Maleny team for their enthusiasm and involvement on the night.

The future of agriculture and community leadership in the Hinterland is looking bright — and the countdown to the Maleny Agricultural Show is officially on.

Join us at the Maleny Showgrounds on 29 and 30 May 2026 for two days of entertainment, competitions, agriculture and community spirit. Tickets are available now.
